Latest Press Release
Racing South Africa The Vodacom Durban July has lost two of its brightest hopes, with the withdrawal of champion Elusive Fort and Mike de Kock’s E KENILWORTH QUARANTINE STATION – FEBRUARY 2009 SHIPMENT To accommodate late arrivals into the AHS Free Zone, Racing South Africa in conjunction with those supporting Kenilworth Quarantine Station (KQS), has elected to delay the start of pre-export quarantine (PEQ) by 3 weeks. This will also allow time to build up numbers. Herewith revised dates: START FREE ZONE RESIDENCY (20 DAYS): Wednesday 24 DECEMBER 2008 START PRE-EXPORT QUARANTINE (40 DAYS): Tuesday 13 JANUARY 2009 DEPARTURE FOR EU: Sunday 22 FEBRUARY 2009 As was the case with the shipments operated by Racing SA this year (April, July and September), we intend providing as much detail about the proposed transport plan as we are able to in advance of the start of PEQ: The aircraft will be a Boeing 747 freighter operated by a reputable international Airline Company. As usual, European Cargo Services will provide jet stalls (vector-protected with fly screens) and the horses will be flown by KQS quarantine master and veterinarian, Dr Koos Neuland, and at least one other professional flying groom (depending on eventual number of horses on the flight) As was the case with the September 2008 shipment (27 horses with Singapore Airlines), the horses will co-load with other freight generated out of Cape Town. Projected cost to arrival in Europe is $14 500 - $15 500 per horse (excludes agent’s fees, fuel surcharges) Given anticipated low numbers, the above plan will enable Racing SA to achieve the pricing objectives established during the three shipments operated by Racing SA during 2008. Racing SA is also willing to operate KQS on a break even basis as a service to the equine industry. For more information, please contact Peter Gibson or your preferred shipping agent.
